Cronulla’s prestige property market has reached a new high, with a landmark waterfront home at 17 Taloombi Street selling for $22.5 million in just seven days.

Designed, built, and owned by renowned developer Allen Sammut, the luxury residence was sold off-market in a deal negotiated by Highland’s Mitchell Wynn and David Highland. The result sets a new record for both Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire, underscoring the growing strength of Sydney’s southern prestige market.

More than a premium home, the property is a unique expression of Sammut’s decades-long legacy shaping Cronulla’s built landscape. Created as a personal residence, it showcases his signature architectural and design vision, rarely seen outside of his landmark projects across the suburb.

"This was always going to be a standout property – but the speed of the deal shows just how deep the market is right now for quality," said Mitchell Wynn.

"It’s not every day that a Sammut home comes to market – and when it does, the demand is immediate. Buyers recognise the brand, the standard, and the legacy behind it."

Set along an exclusive waterfront strip overlooking Gunnamatta Bay, the three-bedroom, four-bathroom residence features:

  • A private boathouse
  • Calcutta marble kitchen
  • Integrated smart home technology
  • Double garage
  • Expansive water views throughout

The $22.5 million price eclipsed Highland’s previous local benchmarks, including the $20 million sale at 333 Woolooware Road and the $14 million sale at 4–6 Cowra Place — both also negotiated by Mitchell Wynn.

A highly targeted digital campaign generated more than one million views within a week, attracting the successful buyer, a long-term Highland client from outside the Shire.

"We’ve worked with this buyer for over ten years," said Wynn. "When the right property surfaces – especially one with this kind of profile – decisions are made very quickly."

David Highland
, CEO of Highland, said the home’s prestige and provenance were pivotal in achieving the record-breaking result.

"This wasn’t just a sale – it was the perfect alignment of timing, architecture, and market confidence," he said.

"There’s a prestige tier of the market where design, location, and legacy all play a part. A home by Allen Sammut is more than property ownership — it’s an investment in excellence."

He added that the deal highlighted Cronulla’s emerging position among Sydney’s top-tier prestige suburbs.

"Cronulla is firmly on the radar of high-end buyers who value lifestyle, scarcity, and quality. This result reinforces that the southern suburbs are now a serious alternative to the traditional eastern suburbs and lower north shore."

As high-end buyers continue to prioritise lifestyle and location, Cronulla’s prestige market looks set to attract even greater attention in 2025 and beyond.
