Legacy of Family Values Continues with Highland Expansion

Legacy of Family Values Continues with Highland Expansion

Highland Property Group has today announced the expansion of the Highland brand into the Inner West with the merger with the Kallin family. The formation of Highland Inner West bridges the gap between the Eastern Suburbs and Highland Double Bay to the Sutherland Shire where Highland CEO and founder, David Highland first established the Highland brand, ensuring one holistic real estate offering throughout the greater Sydney area.

A strong history between David Highland and Angela Kallin and her two daughters Jenna and Kristen, is the underpinning to this newest real estate merger, bringing the Highland/Kallin relationship full circle. From Mr. Highland’s start in the real estate industry over 25 years ago under the wing of patriarch, vale Peter Kallin, he reflects that the lessons learned in those early years are some that have built the foundation of his own real estate empire.

“My relationship with Peter and Angela in the beginning of my career fostered my love of the industry and my strong understanding of what it meant to run a successful business. I credit a lot of the success of the Highland brand to this family who were so incredible to me when I was a 20-year-old kid, trying to get his start,” said Mr Highland. “When the opportunity came around to merge our business with Angela and her daughters, it was a natural progression of our long-standing relationship and one of the easiest business decisions I’ve made in some time.”

Since its inception in 2007, Highland has expanded from a team of 7 working out of a small apartment in the Sutherland Shire to a thriving business of over 200 staff across 6 offices operating within Sydney, the Southern Highlands and South-East Queensland. “By adding our 7th Highland office, this time in the Inner West, I am excited to further our reach between the east and south, creating a real estate offering unique to the market with touch points throughout Sydney, strengthening our position as a leading independent real estate network.”

Angela Kallin, and her daughters, Jenna and Kristen, have successfully managed an Inner West real estate business since the passing of her husband, Peter Kallin, with the business being named as the leading NSW/ACT Property Management Office for 19 out of its 36 years in operation. The merging of the two businesses is something Ms Kallin is looking forward to in order to further strengthen their existing back-end processes and infrastructure. “I’m excited to be in partnership with David Highland and also, the Malouf family, who we have had a close relationship with for over 40 years.”

Not a stranger to expanding the business through mergers, David Highland has successfully navigated this landscape before. Merging with real estate father and son duo Bill and David Malouf, it is a tune he’s played before. “I have found that merging my business with likeminded individuals and figureheads has created a fantastic culture, updated our business processes and promoted innovation to keep us ahead of the curve.”

Highland saw many successful campaigns through 2023 including a circa $40million sale of an eastern suburbs three-storey home and the sale of Roxy Jacenko’s grand Vaucluse property. In the first quarter of 2024, Highland has transacted on over 250 properties bringing in $450m in gross sales and now manage over 4,000 properties within their landlord portfolio.

The merger between the two successful businesses is something David Highland is ecstatic about. “I am extremely proud of the results we have been able to achieve and the team we have grown in the years Highland has been in operation. To see us further expand geographically as well as in our market offerings through a fully serviced off-the-plan sales team and financial branch of Highland, has been the highlight of my business journey.”

“I am excited to start working with Angela, Jenna and Kristen, to grow our brand in tandem and see where we will go from here.”
